Where's my Pam?

Alright...I'm a fan of "The Office." And as so, I try to apply some of the lessons learned, to my own life. I also try to apply what happens and I guess compare it to my life. So I want to know...Where's my Pam?

Here at JQ, I'm the only single quy and T.V. history tells us, that for every single guy, there is an equal and opposite single girl. Well...where is she?

I'm not trying to make this a plea, but more of a satirical observation.

I find the chemistry between Jim and Pam to be so natural and...well..."just right." I'm not to familiar with the BBC version that everyone tells me to watch. I'm told that the NBC version follows the BBC version pretty closely, so I'm not sure if and when Jim and Pam ever get together.

I don't watch soap operas, and never will, but I really want Jim and Pam to get together. Good luck you too! And here's hoping I'll find my Pam soon!

Yeah so today was kind of a fun weather day. At about 10:44 this morning, a WoodTV Holland cam snapped this picture. Thought I would pass it on.

Wow...it's been a while.

So sorry about how long it's been since I last updated this thing. I've never really been good at keep journals and all those sorts of things.

However, I ran across something today that I really need to share with everyone. First of all, let me start of by saying, that I have avoided spinach and I feel really terrible that many people have been getting sick because of it. I also feel teffible for Popeye, well...maybe he'll be okay, he does eat his out of a can.

Anyway, during one of my internet journey's I ran across a picture that now has me wondering about whether or not to eat lettuce. What do you think...

So did you notice anything interesting inside the bag? Maybe a little extra protein? If not...look again.

Think I'll be skipping on that kind of leafy greens for a while.

I'll try and update again before the end of the week. Have a good one!

A couple of weeks ago I posted a video that was part of some Lost contest. You had to find all these different codes and then enter those codes into a website, where you would then have access to a video clip.

The first video I posted had 53 clips of the 56 released at that time. Well since then, more clips have been uncovered and now here's a video with 70 clips. There's some new information in here, I think Lost fans will enjoy.

So...enjoy!

Photoshop Friday! (a little late)

Okay...so I realized that this is way late. Sorry about that.

The other thing is that I forgot my camera, so I couldn't put me into today's picture. So as I try to come up with something for you to enjoy, my mind wandered to those quirky office posters. You know the ones I'm talking about.

The cat hanging from a tree branch with the caption, "Hang in there..Friday's Coming."

Of the cat that's all wet with the mohawk and the caption reads, "Bad Hair Day."

Then theres the drawing of the seagull trying to eat the frog, but the frog has his arms wrapped around the seagull's neck so the seagull can't finish eating him.

Well, I wondered what the frog and seagull would be doing if they were friends. Take a look, this is what happened after they settled their differences.

Enjoy!

The Announcement Wii've Been Waiting For!

It's coming! And you aren't as excited as I am that's okay, you will be.

Nintendo announce a price and a launch date for their next gaming console.

First and formost, I believe that the "Wii" is the next step in gaming evolution. This system has a lot to offer new gamers as well as old gamers, especially those as old as I am.

Get this...not only will you be able to play the new Wii games, but you can play Gamecube games (Nintendo's current console) and with the Wii's "Virtual Console" you'll be able to play classic games from Nintendo's N64 console, Super Nintendo, and yes even the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System.) However, like all games, these virtual console games will cost money too.

The other cool advancement in my mind is the controller(s). It's time for the gamer to be in the game. The controller not only has buttons that you can push, something we've been doing since...well a long time ago, but for certain games, the controller will react to motion. So in the upcoming "Legend of Zelda" game, when you swing the controller, the character on the screen will swing his sword. OH YEAH!

Now are you getting the idea? No...well then picture a tennis game where you have to swing the controller in order for your character to swing the racket inside the game. I will say that, probably the first year that the Wii is out, there will be bugs and the games will utilize the technology on a minimum. However, once the system gets through the bugs and starts stretching their imagination to use the controllers in a different way, you're going to see...no you're going to experience something fantastic.

So...why have you read this far...probably because now that you know what to get for Christmas, a Birthday, your child's Christmas, you'd like to know when you can actually get one and how much it's going to beat your wallet.

Without further ado, the Nintendo Wii will release November 19th here in the U.S. for a price of......(drum roll)....$250! That's oh about $50 - $150 less than the Xbox 360 and $250 - $350 less than the upcoming Playstaion 3! Did you just hear that? Yep...that was your wallet saying, "Thank you! Ahhh....."

Oh by the way, when the system launches, you get a game with it. "Wii Sports" which features tennis, baseball, golf, bowling, and boxing games all to show off the technology and the controller, as well as get you used to it.

That's all. Well except, here is a collage of all the Wii pieces. You're welcome.

9.11.01

Well today is the 5th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. I'm sure that you haven't been able to avoid this all day but I thought that I would share my comments today, because this event is the largest event to take place since I've been alive. By the way, this is really long...sorry.

Like most people, I remember exactly where I was and exactly what I was doing. I'm sure that is exactly how I'll recall September 11, 2001 to my kids and grandkids, just like my parents and grandparent recall the events that they lived through.

I had woken up and did the whole shower thing, got dressed and headed back up to my room. I had the radio on and I could tell that something big was going on due to the conversation of the morning show hosts.

I listened closely only to discover that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I wasn't really big into news back then, but I knew that this was huge. So I turned on my computer, which doubled as a television, so that I could try and capture what was going on that day.

With everything up and running I was just getting ready to start recording and realized that as I was watching the news broadcast the information of the first tower, the second tower was hit right before my eyes.

I hit record on my computer to capture everything I could and I ran down stairs to call my mom. She hadn't heard anything. As I stood there on the phone and watching everything unfold on the family television, I couldn't help but have that butterflies in the stomach feeling.

As a college student at this time I asked my mom if I should skip class today and she said no, that I should still go. So I did.

About a half an hour later I rolled on to the campus of Grand Valley. Things looked slightly normal, but only slightly. The faces of the students I passed lacked traditional emotions, only to be filled with looks of confusion and concern.

Then...I walked into the Kirkof Center into what I could only describe as an eerie site. As I walked in I felt faces look at me briefly and then return to the television screen they had once been glued to.

After that I headed to classes and finished out the rest of my day. The rest of that week was a new experience for me too, because since this was such a huge event news was on for 4 days straight!

I have never been mad about what happened and to be honest, I'm still not mad, however, I don't know anyone who was a casualty of 9/11.

The last 5 years, I've thought about it here and there, when there was some new development, or because I saw a plane in the sky.

Then recently I watched "United 93" which is about the hijacked flight where the passengers fought back. As I watched I thought, "Yeah...I'd be one of the ones that would have fought back." Honestly...I have no idea what I would have done. All I can say is thank God for cell phones, so that those destined to pass had the chance to contact their loved ones.

The other thing that hit me as I watched this film, based on true events, was that I really felt that the hijackers felt they were doing something good and for their god.

I didn't feel sorry for them and I also didn't hate them. The more I thought about it, they're not that much different than us, the U.S. (Please understand that this is all my opinion and from my point of view based on the information I know.)

Think about it...they come in with thier soldiers (hijackers) and used weapons (planes) to attack our civilians for a reason that we do not understand, or at least for a reason that most of us understand...that they hate us and they want to kill us.

Although that last part may be true, what happened after 9/11? The U.S. fought back. We sent our soldiers and used weapons to attack their civilians for a reason we understood, to find the one(s) responsible and seek justice.

The only thing that everything related to 9/11 convinces me of is that, at some point, sometime, and someplace, I have the priveledge to NOT be here anymore. I'll have my escape with the added blessing of being with all the lost loved ones of my life. Don't worry I'm not going to speed that process up, but that escape is inevitable, and will be welcomed in open arms.

As we wrap up this 5 year anniversary, I think about everything that happened and my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones, whether they're Americans...or not.

~jeremy

**By the way, the picture I put together is a picture of the World Trade Center site, before 9/11, on 9/11, and the future after 9/11.**

Photoshop Friday!

Okay...I'm back. Still a little under the weather, but since I couldn't get one out last week, I wanted to make sure you had something to look at this week.

It's not too exciting, given the little time I had to do it, but I think it's kind of cool.

As humans we only live so long, and because of this we only experience so many different things. So I was thinking how cool it would be to put myself in an experience that I never had the chance to participate in.

As I thought of different events that I could photoshop myself into, I thought about who I am. As a Christian, one of the coolest events that I would have liked to experience is the "Last Supper."

Since there were no cameras during that time it's kind of hard to get a picture of it. However, there is a painting of it, which in turns makes it obivious that I wasn't really there. It's just for fun.

So...this weeks Photoshop Friday has me enjoying the "Last Supper" with Jesus and his disciples.

Now...if you feel that this is somehow offensive, I'd be glad to remove it, but think about this first; "Wouldn't it have been awesome if YOU could've been there?"

Every Communion Sunday we partake in bread and wine (grape juice), but how great would it have been to be there for the first one? I say, "Really Great!" What a special moment in those disciples lives.

So without further ado...here's this weeks Photoshop Friday!

Thanks

I'm Ill!

Without sounding like I'm complaining...I'm sick.

I had my birthday this weekend and one of my good friends passed it on to me. Thanks!

This is all after I had told him I haven't been sick in a loooooooooong time...oops.

Being ill shouldn't effect me too much, except that I'm uncomfortable and tired. I wish I was a kid again so I could just stay home from school and sleep all day. Can't do that anymore.

I give it a week and then I'll be 110% and things should be back to normal, ie. Blogging. I've been a little behind lately, especially after the long weekend.

Thanks!

Photoshop Friday!

Photoshop Friday is postponed. I'm sorry. I have a funeral to go to today. I will try and get it in sometime this weekend.

If you really really need something to look at. Here is a little ball animation I did a while ago when I was trying to figure out how to do animated gif's.

Enjoy...have a great extended weekend!
